The world’s only handheld stereo USB microphone.

The AM3 is a stereo digital microphone for directly recording stereo audio into your computer. You can place the dual-capsule condenser mic into most environments and capture true stereo sound.

EASY COMPUTER INTERFACE

The AM3 makes computer connection simple, requiring nothing more than a standard USB port on your Mac or PC. A built-in preamplification system coupled with an onboard stereo analog-to-digital converter ensures high quality audio recording to your DAW software of choice. And because the AM3 has a mini-USB jack output, there's no need for complicated interface boxes or timecode alignment between the two sides. One cable is all you need for this digital solution.

QUALITY AUDIO CAPTURE
The AM3 features a dual-capsule condenser microphone design that enables you to record detailed stereo audio. Wide, 30 – 20,000 Hz frequecy response rivals that of microphones costing tens of times more money! And its studio-ready analog-to-digital conversion creates 16-bit, 44.1 or 48kHz signal. The mic's body even has a gain control for adjusting the input trim with no computer control required.

COMPLETE THE PACKAGE
The AM3 comes with a free Alesis podcast-hosting subscription enabling you to share your recordings with the world. The AM3 also comes with a carry case, mic clip, and cable.

  • Are there any special drivers or software to install?

The AM3 microphone is a plug-and-play device, so there are no drivers to install. The first time you connect it to your computer, it will automatically install all the necessary drivers and be ready to use immediately.

If you are a Windows Vista user, though, we recommend visiting www.asio4all.com to download and install the free ASIO driver, which will allow you to record in stereo.

You can use the AM3 microphone with any kind of recording software that supports USB audio devices.
  • How do I configure my computer to work with the AM3 mic?

First, connect the microphone to a free USB port on your computer. Then:

If you are a Windows XP user, go to Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices. Click on the "Audio" tab and select "USB Audio Codec" as your default recording device, then click "OK."

If you are a Windows Vista user, we recommend visiting www.asio4all.com to download and install the free ASIO driver, which will allow you to record in stereo. Then, go to Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel > Sound (select "Switch to Classic View" if you don't see already "Sound" as an option). Click on the "Recording" tab and select "Microphone – USB Audio Codec" as the default device. Click on "Properties" and under the "Advanced" tab, select "2 Channel" to record in stereo. (We recommend "44100 Hz – CD Quality.") Click "OK."

If you are a Mac user, go to your "System Preferences," then click "Sound." Click the "Input" tab and select "USB Audio Codec" as the input device. Close the Control Panel.
  • How can I distribute my podcast?

Alesis includes a free 30-day hosting of your podcast through cyberears.com. Once you have finished recording and saving your session as an mp3, you will need to upload it to www.alesispodcast.com, which will host and promote your podcast to major podcast syndication websites. Refer to the Quickstart Guide for more information on how to do this.
